Google Search Console
Connect a verified Google Search Console property with read-only access, so your actions show your Google position for each search.
Before you start
You need a Search Console property for your domain, verified with your Google account. Owner, full user and restricted user access all work.
If you do not have one yet:
- Open Google Search Console and select Add property.
- Choose Domain and enter
example.com. A domain property covers every subdomain and bothhttpandhttps. - Add the TXT record that Google shows to your DNS, then select Verify.
Connect
Open the search settings
In Sommet, open Settings → Search data and select Connect next to Google. You can also select Connect Google on the Search line of the overview.
Approve read-only access
Google asks you to allow Sommet to view Search Console data for your verified sites. This is
the webmasters.readonly scope. Sommet cannot change anything in your account.
Choose the property
Sommet lists only the verified properties that match the workspace domain. If one property matches, it connects without a choice. If you see “No verified property matches this workspace domain”, check that you signed in with the Google account that owns the property.
Wait for the first audit
The first audit imports up to 12 months of history. Audits then run every day.
Troubleshooting
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| No verified properties were returned for this account | Sign in with the Google account that verified the property, or ask the owner to add you as a user in Search Console. |
| Reconnect Google with Search Console access to resume scheduled audits | Google revoked the access, or you removed it from your Google account. Select Connect again. |
| The last scheduled audit failed | Sommet retries in about an hour. If it keeps failing, reconnect Google. |
Disconnect
Select Remove property and its audits in Settings → Search data. To revoke the Google access itself, open your Google account permissions and remove Sommet.
