Data and limits

How Sommet collects AI answers and search data, what the numbers can and cannot tell you, and how to export them.

AI answers

  • Sommet asks each question once a week on ChatGPT and Gemini, through their public chat interfaces.
  • An answer is a sample. The same question can get a different answer an hour later. Read trends over several weeks, not one week.
  • A mention counts when the answer names your product or site. A citation counts when the answer links to a URL on your domain. They are counted apart.
  • Runs compare only when they use the same questions on the same assistants. A changed question counts from the next collection.
  • If an assistant is unavailable during a collection, its answers are left out of the rate. They do not count as misses.

Search data

  • Search Console data arrives with a delay of 2 to 3 days. Final numbers can change for a few more days.
  • Bing does not return an average position, and its traffic counts more verticals than Google. See Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • The first audit imports up to 365 days. Query and page tables use the latest 28-day audit.

AI bot visits

  • Counts come from your host’s logs, not from a script on your pages. They include bots that do not run JavaScript.
  • Gemini reads most pages as Googlebot, so its count only includes its own agents. See Count AI bot visits.
