title: Tools reference
description: The read and write tools of the Sommet MCP server, what each one returns or changes, its inputs, and the order in which an assistant calls them.
---

Every tool goes through the same checks as the dashboard: you only reach workspaces you are a member of, and plan limits apply. Call `list_workspaces` first, then pass a `workspaceId` to the other tools.

`weeks` is optional on the tools that accept it. It takes `1`, `4` or `12` and defaults to `4`. The window ends with the latest collection week.

| `answerId` | UUID | Required. From `list_ai_answers`. |

### get_cited_sources

Domains and pages AI assistants cite when they answer your questions.

| ------------- | ---------------- | -------- |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | ---- | -------- |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |

### list_actions

Recommended actions to improve AI visibility:

- the web searches behind answers that miss the site, with its Google position when Search Console is connected;
- third-party pages those answers cite next to competitors, with a draft email asking to be listed;
- Google fixes from the latest search audit. A done fix has its impact and `indexing`: whether Google read the page again since the change, or does not index it.

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | ---- | -------- |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |

### get_question_panel

The questions Sommet asks AI assistants every week for the site, with their IDs, plus the market, language and assistants of the panel.

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | ---- | -------- |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |

## Write tools

The write tools need the `sommet:write` scope. A [read-only connection](/docs/mcp#read-only-connections) does not list them.

### add_questions

Adds questions to the weekly panel, after the existing ones. Your plan limits how many questions are active. Returns the updated panel.

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------- | -------- |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |
| `questions` | 1 to 100 objects with `text` and `intent` | Required |

- `text`: the question as a buyer would ask an AI assistant, in the panel language, 500 characters at most.
- `intent`: `discovery` for a buyer looking for a solution without naming your site, `reputation` for a question about your site or brand by name.

### update_question

Rewords a question or changes its intent. Answers already collected keep the wording they were asked with. Returns the updated panel.

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | --------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |
| `questionId` | UUID | Required. From `get_question_panel`. |
| `text` | string | Optional |
| `intent` | `discovery` or `reputation` | Optional |

### remove_questions

Stops asking questions in the weekly panel. Their answers so far stay in the history. Returns the updated panel.

| Input | Type | |
| ------------- | -------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| `workspaceId` | UUID | Required |
| `questionIds` | 1 to 100 UUIDs | Required. From `get_question_panel`. |

### update_action_status

Sets the status of a Google fix from `list_actions`. Marking it `done` starts measuring its effect on clicks and positions, and Sommet checks once a day that Google read the page again (`indexing` in `list_actions`).

| Input | Type | |

| `status` | `open`, `in_progress`, `done` or `dismissed` | Required |
